This site exists **only** to help people see what open sources claim about the Yemen–Houthis / Red Sea / Bab el-Mandeb conflict — nothing else.

## Purpose — information & situational awareness ONLY

This site is for general public **information and situational awareness (SA)**. It helps people see what is being *claimed* in open sources so they can better understand “what’s going on.” It is **not** a military command system, targeting tool, weapons aid, operational decision aid, navigation product, or life-safety service.

## Prohibited & unsuitable uses

**Do not use** this map for:

- Targeting, fire control, or weapons employment
- Operational or tactical planning
- Navigation under threat
- Personal safety, evacuation, or travel-security decisions
- Insurance underwriting, financial, or legal decisions
- Emergency response or any life-safety decision
- Harassment, doxxing, geolocating civilians, or endangering individuals

## Independence — no government, military, or intelligence affiliation

Not affiliated with, funded by, directed by, or in communication with any government, military, or intelligence service — including the **Houthis (Ansar Allah)**, the **internationally recognized Yemeni government**, the **United States**, the **United Kingdom**, **Israel**, **Saudi Arabia**, the **UAE**, **CENTCOM**, or any adjacent actor. **Not official intelligence.** Fog of war applies: active-conflict reporting is inherently uncertain.

## Political neutrality — all sides; no endorsement

Claims from **Houthi, YemenGov, USA, Coalition**, and third parties may be plotted. Plotting a claim does **not** endorse it, and does **not** endorse the legality, legitimacy, or justification of any military action. The same evidential labeling rules apply to public statements such as those from CENTCOM, UK MoD, Saudi-led coalition spokespeople, the Yemeni government, and Houthi media: “official” means a public official utterance — not trust or preference.

## Locations & verification labels

- Unit locations are **estimated / NOT CONFIRMED / NOT GUARANTEED**.
- Coordinates are approximate (city/area level), **not targeting-grade**.
- Claims may be wrong, delayed, incomplete, one-sided, or propaganda.
- **“VERIFIED SOURCE” / “OFFICIAL STATEMENT”** means a citation or link exists, or an official body issued a public statement — **not** that the battlefield or naval event is true. **Citation ≠ confirmation.**

## Territory / holdings layer

Territory fills are **Estimated / Unverified**. Which side holds what is **NOT CONFIRMED**. Polygons are coarse open-source approximations for situational awareness only — not official confirmation, not precise front lines or maritime boundaries, and not proprietary institute vector geometry. **USA-colored fills** mean estimated reported US/partner naval presence / operating interest in the Red Sea / Bab el-Mandeb approaches — they do **NOT** mean the United States or Coalition partners own or exercise sovereignty over Yemeni land or waters. They may be wrong or outdated. Never treat fills as confirmed control or targeting data.

## Casualties and figures (if shown)

Any casualty counts or similar figures come from reporting at a point in time and are **often revised**. Treat them as reported numbers — not independently audited facts.

## Audience guidance

- **Journalists / researchers:** verify primary sources before publication; do not cite this map as independently confirmed intelligence.
- **General public:** awareness only.
- **If you are in a conflict zone or at sea in a high-risk area:** this is **not** a safety resource. Contact **official authorities**, the **Red Cross / ICRC**, **UNHCR**, maritime security advisories (e.g. UKMTO), or your government’s emergency services and travel advisories — **not this map**.

## Sources, links & intellectual property

Only publicly available open sources are used. No classified, private, intercepted, or illegally obtained material. Links go to third-party sites; this project does not control their content; you follow them at your own risk. Respect IP of outlets: fair-use summary + link out — do not republish substantial copyrighted text as your own.

## No warranty; limitation of liability

Provided **“AS IS”** and **“AS AVAILABLE,”** without warranty of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for any purpose. To the **maximum extent permitted by law**, operators and contributors are not liable for damages arising from use of this map. **Use at your own risk.** These terms are intended to reduce risk in line with common OSINT practice; they do **not** claim that you are “100% legally safe” everywhere.

## Misrepresentation & republishing

Do not misrepresent this site as official intel, government product, or verified real-time tracking. If republishing, attribute as **unverified OSINT aggregation**, keep status labels, and verify originals.

## Local storage; corrections

Acceptance is stored locally in your browser (`claimmap-ye-houthis-disclaimer-accepted-v1`) so the first-visit gate does not reappear every load. **No account required.** Reopen anytime via **Disclaimer** or **Terms** in the app footer (no email required to re-read). No dedicated corrections email is published in this project.
